Violent protests took place in Bengaluru against Sunny Leone’s performance this New Year’s eve. Finally the actress has walked out of the program considering the Bengaluru police has now denied providing her security for the evening
Sunny Leone found herself stuck in an extremely awkward
situation. As absurd as it may sound, but a certain political group from
Karnataka threatened that they will commit a mass suicide if Sunny performed in
Bengaluru on New Year's Eve.
After the Bengaluru police said they wouldn't be able to give Sunny protection,
Leone has now walked out of the event. Read her full statement here:
Since the police of Bangalore have publicly said that they will not be able to ensure mine & all who attend safety for my New Years event,my team & I feel, safety of the people should always come first therefore I cannot attend.God bless & I wish everyone a safe & happy New Year!

For those who've come in late, members of
Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Yuva Sene have protested Sunny’s performance which
was scheduled to happen on New Year’s Eve. According to them, Sunny’s
performance could prove to be a threat to their culture but if she wears a
saree and performs, they will watch the performance.
Unbelievable, isn't it?
Harish, the leader of the protesters, told a
leading daily, "We are against Sunny wearing short clothes. If she wears
saree and takes part in the event, even we'll go watch her. Sunny doesn't have
a good past. We shouldn't be encouraging such people. We will not hesitate to
commit suicide on December 31."
On the other hand, the organiser of the show had issued a
statement saying the New Year party is a family affair. "This is a
family-type programme with Sunny dancing on a Kannada song, and I, being a
Kannadiga, have kept the programme's standard based on the Bengaluru culture
itself. Even though Sunny got a lot of events that offered her more money, she
rejected those and agreed to come to Bengaluru since Bengaluru and Hyderabad
are her favourite places. I don't know what the protestors are expecting or
what they think; this is a family show where the culture of the state won't be
disturbed,’’ said the organiser.
We think Sunny has taken a good stand by deciding not to
go for the event. The Bengaluru police should be ashamed of itself for saying
they won't be able to provide security to citizens.
