Suniel Shetty Recalls Meeting Son-In-Law KL Rahul For The First Time; Says, ‘Always Told Athiya To Connect With South Indian Boys’
Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty has been on cloud nine ever since his darling daughter Athiya Shetty tied the knot with her long time boyfriend, KL Rahul. The happy couple got hitched in a lavish ceremony at his Khandala bungalow. The actor during an appearance at The Kapil Sharma Show, recalled meeting the cricketer for the first time in 2019 at an airport. 

The actor graced the comedy show with his presence to talk about India’s first MMA reality show, Kumite 1 Warrior Hunt. Where he opened up about his reaction when he came to know that his daughter was already on ‘talking terms’ with the cricketer. As quoted by Hindustan Times, the actor had been a huge fan of KL Rahul and was surprised to know that they belonged from the same hometown. ALSO READ: SPOTTED! The 61-year-old actor told Kapil Sharma, “I had the pleasure of meeting Rahul first at an airport. I was thrilled to learn that he was from Mangalore, my hometown. I was a big fan of him and was happy to see that he was doing well. When I came home and shared the news with Athiya and [wife] Mana, they didn’t say much; they just exchanged looks with each other. Later, Mana came to me and said that Athiya and Rahul [were on] talking terms.”


He further went on to express that he was elated to know that they already knew each other as he had already told Athiya to bond more with south Indian boys. He further said, “I was surprised that Athiya had not mentioned it to me. [At the same time], I was happy as I always told Athiya to connect with south Indian boys. Rahul’s house in Mangalore [where his parents live] is only a few kilometres away from my birthplace [Mulki]. Talking about the happy couple, they met through a common friend and instantly connected at their first meeting itself. They later fell in love and have been in a steady relationship for over three years now. They made their relationship official during the screening of Athiya’s brother Ahaan Shetty’s film Tadap in December 2021. 

On the work front, Suniel Shetty will be seen reuniting with Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal for the third installment of their cult-classic movie Hera Pheri. The actor’s will be reprising their iconic roles of Shyam, Raju and Baburao respectively. If reports are to be believed, the movie will be directed by Farhad Samji.
