STAR SCREEN AWARDS 2016: Alia Bags Best Actress Trophy, Amitabh Bachchan Gets Best Actor
Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan started the awards season with the coveted trophies. Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan won hearts with their BFF act at the Star Screen Awards
The night was special in more ways than one. Star Screen Awards which took place here in Mumbai today kicked off the Bollywood awards season and it also marked the public reunion of Bollywood's most famous friends-turned-foes-turned-friends, none other than Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan.
The two walked the red carpet together, posed arm in arm and performed together, a spectacle that industry wallahs as well as fan could not get enough of.
Other than the filmi Bharat Milaap, there is the fact that being the first awards night, Star Screen Awards will also set the pace for the rest of the awards
And the winners here, who are sure to earn more trophies this season, were Alia Bhatt as Best Actress for Dear Zindagi (Popular) and Udta Punjab (Critics) and Amitabh Bachchan as Best Actor (Popular) for Pink.
Sushant Singh Rajput too won the Best Actor trophy but in Critics category for his portrayal of the namesake cricketing legend in M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story.
In the Supporting Actor category, Rishi Kapoor won for his turn as a spunky centenarian grandfather in Kapoor And Sons.
But the true star of the night was the bromance of Salman and Shah Rukh. They made their entry onto the stage in bicycles. Just moments earlier SRK had told the media, " Me and Salman had differences but people just tried to create gossip for each other, they never listened to us."
Whatever differences they talked about, it was surely not visible tonight as Shah Rukh and Salman put together a memorable show of camaraderie.
Speaking of performances, Rekha blew everyone away with her thumkas. The evergreen actress who was handed the Lifetime Achievement Trophy by Deepika Padukone, returned to the stage to dance to Pardesiya, Yeh Sach Hai Piya.
