SRK To Star In Breaking Bad Adaptation?

King Khan is expected to step into Bryan Cranston's shoes

Buzz is, Shah Rukh Khan has a new project up his sleeve. Nope, it’s not a movie but a TV show. Now, dont expect Shah Rukh to cry his heart out in a daily soap. The show in question is the Indian adaptation of the hit American show Breaking Bad, which will be produced by Endemol who has bought the rights of the original.

The Happy New Year actor has been asked to play the part of Walter White. If all goes well, he will play a professor suffering from cancer who turns to dealing in drugs to secure the financial future of his family after his death. If things go according to plan, Shah Rukh will reprise the role that Bryan Cranston made famous.

A source close to the development told SpotboyE.com: "If everything is finalised, the show should go on floors by early next year with a stellar star cast and a mind-boggling narrative. Deepak has often spoken to Shah Rukh for a lot of his shows, but this time he knows he has hit the nail right on its head because Shah Rukh is a fan of this show and has watched it entirely, and has shown willingness to be a part of the exercise.”

Shah Rukh, who began his career with television in Fauji has had moderate success on television. Hes hosted shows like Kaun Banega Crorepati, Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?, Total Wipeout and India Poochega Sabse Shaana Kaun?  If he does play Walter White it would mean his return to TV fiction after decades.

But the question to ask is: Who will play Jesse Pinkman, Walters former student and partner in crime?

Despite a text message, Endemols Managing Director Deepak Dhar chose not to respond.
