Sonu Nigam On Turning Down Hindi Reality Shows: ‘Tired Of Being Asked To Praised A Contestant When The Song Isn’t Good’
Sonu Nigam reveals why he has turned down many Hindi reality shows in the recent years
Sonu Nigam is one of the most talented and popular singers that we have in the industry with many super-hits songs to his credit. Nigam, who had also judged singing reality shows like Indian Idol and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, in a recent interview, has opened up about why he has turned down many Hindi reality shows in recent years. The singer revealed that he does not like the format the judges on Hindi reality shows are asked to adhere to, particularly of 'praising a contestant even when they are not good.'
Speaking to the media during a virtual event of his Bengali reality show Super Singer Season 3, Sonu Nigam talked about the reasons why he chose to appear on the Bengali reality show than a Hindi reality show. TOI quoted him as saying, “I instantly decided to be a part of this Bengali show (Super Singer Season 3), because I had high expectations. I turned down a lot of Hindi shows. I am tired of being asked to say same old things on the show and praising a contestant when the song isn’t good. I don’t like that. It has become more of a love lost kind of thing now. I don’t look forward to earning money and I don’t see the necessity of being a part of a show just for the sake of it. So I don’t say yes to Hindi shows these days.” ALSO READ: BREAKING! Not to forget, last year singer Amit Kumar made headlines after he claimed that he was asked to praise the contestants on Indian Idol 12 even though it wasn't good. Sonu also revealed the same and said, “I am a man of clear words. Nobody can tell me how to behave because we belong to that purest school of music and life."
Sonu Nigam will judge the Bengali reality show Super Singer Season 3 with Kumar Sanu and Koushiki Chakraborty.
