Sonam Kapoor On Nepotism: "Will Be Disrespectful If I Don't Take Advantage Of My Father's Hard Work"
Sonam Kapoor recently appeared on Arbaaz Khan’s chat show, Pinch. While on the show she revealed that her close friend and Veere Di Wedding actress Kareena Kapoor Khan is on social media, Kapoor also spoke on many issues like nepotism and trolling amongst others in different segments. In one such segment, the Neerja actress was asked to give it back to those trolling her. While one troll called her out for ‘nepotism’, another one termed her as a ‘flop actress’.

When a troll said, “Ten years in the industry yet you don't know how to act Pathetic #nepotism." Sonam first began to explain the meaning of it and said, "I have been in the industry for 11 years. Thank you for following me and knowing how long I have been there. I want to explain what nepotism really means. Everybody thinks that it's a relative of a person. Nepotism actually means to get a job through any connection. I think people have misunderstood it or are using the word for their own benefit, to put other people down."

Added Sonam, "My father didn't come from an illustrious family. He has worked in the industry for 40 years and he has worked really hard only for his children and if I don't take advantage of his hard work, which he has done for us, I think that will be a little disrespectful towards his work because every man or a woman, a mother or a father works for their children."

Not only this, the actress also reacted on being labelled as a ‘flop actor’. She said, “I don't remember my last flop. But I think till seven years ago, I don't think I did have films that I could speak much about. I think when I signed Raanjhanaa and I started looking at scripts, my films did relatively well. I don't remember a time where my acting wasn't appreciated or my films didn't do well.”

She further added, “In India and across the world, lives are so miserable because there is so much misery around. So you kind of envy people who are achieving something. Because of so much competition around, people can't stand it when someone is doing well.”

“I have millions of followers on Twitter so I can't sit and read comments. Also, I cannot take one person's snarky comment seriously. I believe a lot in prayer and sometimes, I do pray saying that I hope that negativity and hate is not there in this world. I honestly believe that even a hater is a lover,” she concluded.
