Shut Up, Trolls! What's Wrong If Mira & Shahid Are Having Another Baby?
When will trolls be shamed for what they do to people, particularly to celebrities? Time to slam those who are poking their nose in Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput's decision of having a second child ...
Mira Rajput and Shahid Kapoor getting hate tweets on
their social media accounts after having announced their second child (they
have a daughter Misha who was born in Aug 2016) in two-and-half years depicts
the low depths to which we have sunk. It gives me despair to see that social
media users think they have the right to decide that whether one should have a
baby or not. Tomorrow, don't be surprised if a childless husband and wife
are trolled with all sorts of questions and allegations on why they haven't
raised a family yet.

Look at some of
the trolls. They are, to say the least, disgusting. But let me first make my
point clear before listing that trash down.
Saif Ali Khan With Kareena Kapoor And Taimur
To be honest,
this should not surprise any of us. Shahid and Mira being trolled is yet
another incident in a long series of celebrities who have faced social media
abuse for their personal choices. Karan Johar has, on several occasions, spoken
of the vicious abuse that he has to face on a near-daily basis, by those who
question him on his sexuality. In what was probably the worst one could sink
to, an entire army of trolls abused a newborn child, when Saif Ali Khan named
his baby Taimur. Female celebrities usually have it a lot worse, as abuse gets
served along with misogyny and sexism. Priyanka Chopra was trolled for wearing
a knee-length skirt when she met Prime Minister Modi, and more recently,
Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and Swara Bhasker )how many times has Swara been
targetted?) got trolled for voicing their opinion on the Kathua rape.

It isn’t
restricted to Bollywood, of course. Sania Mirza and many other public figures
who have faced vicious abuse on several occasions.Social media could very well be
a necessary evil for a celebrity, as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram have
become a vital part of their public persona (and of course, one of the forces
that drives the marketing of a new release). But online trolling is just an
uglier manifestation of the double standards and judgemental nature of society
itself. As a society, we constantly judge each other, for what they wear, what
they do, when they marry, whether they marry, when they choose to have kids...
the list is endless. Celebrities are in the public eye, and speculation and
gossip is a byproduct of their popularity. But personal choices, especially
when it involves a child, is where one must draw the line.

And yeah, here is that trash:
In their past interviews, Mira and Shahid had expressed
that they want to have another baby soon. Shahid Kapoor had even told GQ
Magazine: “Mira, who is just 22, would prefer to have a second kid soon as
well. She wants to flip the norm, get the kids to a certain age and then be
free to do what she likes.” Accepting that their first baby wasn’t
planned, Shahid had added: “It wasn’t planned actually, but I think we were
ready for it. I was impatient to get married and have a family. My job is a
lonely one. I was lonely for three or four years."

Kudos to you two, Mira & Shahid. Whether your
forthcoming kid is by choice or chance, we are sure you both are overjoyed and
care a damn about the idle men and women in our country who are trolling people
and inducing dissent, hatred and nausea. Congratulations to you both, once
again!
