Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana is known for his unconventional roles in films such as Bala, Vicky Donor, Shubha Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, among others. Straying from the mainstream, the actor is not one to hesitate to take on an unconventional role, and he proves he is a versatile actor in each and every film that he does. Today, Ayuhsmann Khurrana and Jitendra Kumar starrer Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan clocked one year of release, and Ayushmann took to his social media to dedicate a special post, in which he opened up about addressing taboo topics through cinema.

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is a same-sex love story played by Ayushmann Khurrana and Jitendra Kumar. While sharing a few still from the film, Ayushmann Khurrana wrote about the need of portraying taboo topics through cinema as it can help normalise such taboo topics and help alter the mindset of people. “Taboo topics need to be constantly addressed through our cinema because it can really help alter the mindset of people. It takes a lot of time and effort to normalise taboo subjects and bring about constructive changes in society. I`m glad that we tried to contribute towards making the conversation about same-sex relationships in India mainstream through Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. #1YearOfShubhMangalZyadaSaavdhan,” wrote Ayushmann.

The film also starred Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao apart from Ayushmann Khurrana and Jitendra Kumar.


Meanwhile, in an interview with IANS, Ayushmann Khurrana said that was really thrilled with the appreciation and the response towards the film as people had told him that it was a tricky film and that people wouldn’t accept this kind of cinema. “Instead, I was humbled with appreciation. The success of this film is in how it was accepted as a commercial film and how it has hopefully done its job to pave a path for many other films on such subjects to be made,” he said.
