Actress Shruti Haasan has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry with her versatile performances. Being an avid social media user, she often takes to her official handles to interact with her followers and share glimpses of her personal and professional journey. Having worked extensively in the Tamil and Hindi film industry, on Thursday, she took to her Instagram handle to host an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session. However, a fan’s request left her miffed.

Recently, during the AMA session on Instagram, a netizen asked Shruti to “say something in a South Indian accent.” Calling out the request as ‘micro racism,’ she pointed out how it isn’t ‘cute’ when people try to imitate South Indians and call them by the names of their dishes. Known to leaving no stone unturned while lashing out at her trolls, quoted by the Free Press Journal, the 38-year-old actress wrote, “Ok so this sort of BS micro racism is not ok. And it's not cute when you look at us and say idli dosa sambar either. She went on to add in Tamil, “Shut up and go!”

This is not the first time a celebrity has called out someone for their subtle racism. For those who don’t remember, Ram Charan’s makeup artist Zeba Hassan had slammed Shah Rukh Khan for addressing the RRR actor by calling him ‘idli vada’ at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s Jamnagar pre-wedding ceremony. Taking to her Instagram stories, she wrote, “Bhend idly vada Ram charan kahan hai tu (Saying names of snacks, Ram Charan where are you)???' I walked out after this.
