Having been a part of the Hindi entertainment industry for around 25 year, Ranvir Shorey has been opening up about his journey. He had recently made the headlines during his participation in Bigg Boss OTT season 3. While he was crowned as the second runner-up of the Anil Kapoor-hosted controversial reality show, he won over the audeince with his honest game play. During a recent interview, while promoting his upcoming web series Shekhar Home, he opened up about how Bollywood functions and how favouritism still exits in the industry.
In an interaction with Siddharth Kanan, Shorey was asked about his take on never receiving any big award in his illustrious careers. Having made a name for himself with his versatile performances and comic timing, he revealed that while he has received awards, he never received a big award. Quoted by the Free Press Journal, he said, “Yes, I have never recieved any major awards. I mean I have recieved a few awards but never a biggie. Delving deep into the topic when asked why according to him, he never received awards despite deserving them, he stated that one needs strong networking and connections in the industry. Ranvir added, “The political world can be very dramatic and filmy, the same way, film world can also be very political.” He went on to shed light on the prevalent favouritism in the film industry and said that it is still there and hasn’t lessen. The 51-year-old actor stated that despite asking for more work, he isn’t getting any. The media publication stated him saying, “Puchne ke baad bhi nahi milta. I do not ask for it a lot though. I feel people who you expect work from know that you are alive, they know your work and they say that you are a good actor too but you still do not get casting calls and that is their reasons, I don't know.”
When explaining the question on why he feel would be the reason behind him not gettingwork he stated that it could be because he has a habit of asking for his fees on time. He went on to add that people might not like that trait of his and might think that he ahs attitude because of it. He went on to call himself underpaid, when asked about getting the fees he deserves.
Ranvir said, “I would like to think that I am underpaid because a lot of people that I know who are probably not as experienced as me or maybe as good as me (says hesistantly) probably get paid more and I am being honest about it.”
On the work font, Ranvir Shorey will be next seen in Shekhar Home, co-starring KayKay Menon. The project will stream on Jio Cinemas.
