Neha Dhupia in a recent interview revealed that she got fired from projects after her first pregnancy
Mother of two and an actress, who managed to create her own mark in Bollywood, Neha Dhupia is all escalated and happy with the response her latest release ‘A Thursday’ is receiving. The actress, who played the role of a pregnant cop in Yami Gautam starrer, recently revealed in an interview that she got fired from a few projects after disclosing the news of her first pregnancy. She also opened up about her role in the movie and how her role was changed after she announced her second pregnancy.
While speaking to India.com, Neha revealed that initially, her role wasn’t written as the pregnant cop, it was later when she revealed the makers about her pregnancy, Behzad Khambata made changes in the script for her character.
She also talked about how after her first pregnancy she lost projects. Neha said, "during Mehr’s time, I had to create work. I did my own podcasts and other non-fiction television shows. I was being myself because being pregnant wasn’t a problem at all. I always worked right to the end. But the industry changes. Before I announced my pregnancy, I was a part of a few projects. Did I get fired from those projects? Yes, I did. Was anything wrong with it? Adding further, she also revealed how she bagged the role in Behzad’s directorial “A Thursday,” Neha asserted, “I kind of lost all projects amidst the second wave (of COVID-19). This was literally my last try. I went into the meeting and told them that ‘I am five months pregnant. What do you want to do? Do you want to continue or replace me? It’s your choice and your film.’ It was a bunch of boys making the film and it didn’t take him a minute to say ‘we don’t want to replace you.”
Neha also mentioned that she wants to bring a positive change in the industry and said, “I can’t use every stage to talk about empowering women if I can’t lead by example.
