Shershaah: Kiara Advani Reveals She Had Texted Capt Vikram Batra’s Girlfriend Dimple Cheema After Shooting The Film; Says ‘This Is An Emotional Movie For Her’
People have unanimously been showering love and appreciation on the makers of Shershaah and the leads - Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra. Moreover, it is also making their eyes moist to see Captain Vikram Batra's fierce life on the celluloid. Since the actors are playing the characters on screen, they have to do a different kind of preparation to get into the skin of the character. While Sid got a lot of help from Batra's family, Kiara got in touch with the real Dimple for better understanding of her character.

Knowing that Vikram's parents have already watched the film, Kiara was recently asked if Dimple has watched the film as well. She was quoted as saying by Mid-day, “I messaged her after the film. This is an emotional movie for her. I want to respect her privacy right now. When I met Captain Batra’s family after the film, they said I was exactly like her [Dimple]. That moved me to tears. I know the songs have deeply touched her. She must be proud that the story is resonating with people.”

Kiara had met Dimple before kick-starting the film. Speaking about the meeting, Advani told BT, “Meeting Dimple Cheema was the most important emotional aspect of making this film. We had not even started shooting when we met and it was the best part of the prep. She gave me an insight into her mind and her heart which then helped me emote better on screen. It was Vishal Batra, Captain Vikram Batra’s twin brother, who helped us meet each other. I wanted to understand her closely and emulate her as close to reality as I could. We incorporated Punjabi dialogues because she is from Punjab. It was an overwhelming and emotional experience for me to play Dimple.”

Shershaah is helmed by Vishnu Varadhan and is bankrolled by Karan Johar's banner Dharma Productions. The film was released on August 12 on Amazon Prime.
