Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar left for her heavenly abode on February 6. Several celebrities have been sharing their fond memories of the singer. And now, in an interview, Shatrughan Sinha recalled how Lata ji sacrificed marriage for her family.

Speaking to ETimes, Shatrugan Sinha said, "Admired for what she did for her family. Revered for every song that she sang. She sacrificed her marriage for her family," and then quickly added, "Well, that's what we have been told."

The veteran actor added that she used to live in simplicity. "She would tell me and say she's a fan of mine, she loves the way I say my dialogues." Sinha also revealed that the singer was always in touch with his family. "I remember when my son Kush got married, she sent clothes not just for my daughter-in-law but also for my wife Poonam and even for myself. How many people today follow traditions of olden times that had respect written all over them?" He also said, "We say things like that, the show must go on and the show will go on. But how can the show go on without her? Mujhe toh unki barabari karne wala door door tak nazar nahi aa raha. The aan baan shaan of India's music has left us."

The singer's funeral took place on Sunday. Dr Patit Samdani, who was treating her at the hospital, had released a statement after her demise that read, "It is with profound grief that we announce the sad demise of #LataMangeshkar at 8:12 am. She has died because of multi-organ failure after more than 28 days of hospitalisation post #COVID19."
