Shahid Kapoor Issues Clarification Over His ‘South Audience Should Accept Hindi Movies’ Remark; Says, ‘Cinema Is Universal Now More Than Ever’
Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor is one of the underappreciated artists in the Hindi film industry. Having made a name for himself with his versatile performances and dancing skills, he is currently taking over the OTT space. With hit projects like Bloody Daddy and Farzi under his belt, he is currently making the headlines for his controversial statements during his interviews. After coming under fire for his ‘marriage is about women fixing men’ statement causing an uproar, he had gone on to claim that the ‘south audience haven’t accepted Hindi movies’.

Recently, he hosted an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session on Twitter, where he was asked by a south fan why he would pass such a comment. On Friday, a netizen asked him, “Sir you said south Indian audience don't watch Hindi films? Why? You have such thinking we love to watch every movie if it is good. We love movies sir.” Keeping his clarification very vague, the actor spoke about how cinema has become universal now. Talking about his statement, while talking to Bollywood Spy, he had urged the Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada audience to watch more Hindi films because the Hindi audience has whole-heartedly accepted their films. He added, “I feel like everybody should work with each other... everybody should come together to add more value, so more people go to the theatres. On the work front, Shahid Kapoor was last seen in Bloody Daddy, which also co-stars Sanjay Kapoor, Diana Penty, Ronit Roy, Rajeev Khandelwal and more. He has an untitled romantic movie with Kriti Sanon in his pipeline.
