Shah Rukh Khan Gets No Relief In Raees Riot Case
The Rajasthan High Court is in no mood to let go of Shah Rukh Khan in the Raees riot case in spite of the complainant withdrawing the FIR
On Wednesday, the Rajasthan High Court stated that the charges of rioting and endangering the lives of people against Shah Rukh Khan during the promotion of his movie Raees will continue despite the petitioner withdrawing from the case.
Public Prosecutor Sher Singh Mehla stated that the petitioner couldn’t alone decide the case as it involved loss of public property. The single bench of justice KS Ahluwalia said that there would be no relief for the superstar.
In 2017, Shah Rukh Khan had travelled from Mumbai to New Delhi in the August Kranti Rajdhani Express on January 23-24 to promote his movie Raees. When the train took a halt at the Kota Railway Station in Rajasthan at 6 am, the actor threw gifts for his fans that gave rise to a stampede at the platform resulting into heavy loss of public property.
A railway vendor named Vikram Singh whose trolley was damaged registered a case against SRK under various sections of the Indian Penal Code that included rioting, 149: unlawful assembly, 160: affray, 427: mischief causing damage, 120B: criminal conspiracy, Section 3 of prevention of damage of public property, 145: drunknness and nuisance and 146: obstructing railway employess from their duties of the Railways Act 1989.
On Wednesday, the complainant decided to withdraw the FIR, but the public prosecutor stated that the GRP found Khan to be guilty of rioting and endangering life and personal safety of others. The next hearing to happen on May 28.
