Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale released last month amidst tremendous hype and expectations. Surprisingly, it did not do as well as expected. Now, SRK himself has said that he is “personally disappointed” with the film’s performance.
At a press conference today, the actor opened up about the Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon-starrer. Admitting that the Rohit Shetty film did not do “as well as it should have”, SRK added that it fared better overseas than in India.

The film clashed at the box-office with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani on December 18. While Dilwale saw a stronger opening than the Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra starrer, Bajirao eventually raced ahead in the domestic market. The SRK-Kajol film is nearing Rs. 150 crore; in contrast, the period drama reportedly stands at Rs. 177 crore.
This is the first time that Shah Rukh has lost a box-office clash. His previous films which had clashed with other releases – Don, Om Shanti Om, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Chennai Express – had all emerged winners.
