Salman To Rehabilitate Pavement Dwellers
Salman Khan, who is well-known for his philanthropic efforts, has decided to open a new wing of his NGO, Being Human.

9xe has it that the new section will be dedicated towards the rehabilitation of slum and pavement dwellers.

A top source associated with Khan's NGO revealed that on his 50th birthday (December 27), Salman will officially announce the new section. Said the source, "A sum of Rs. 1 crore has been kept aside exclusively for the rehabilitation programme. The idea is to work towards providing housing facilities for slum and pavement dwellers."

Ironically, in 2002, the superstar was involved in a hit-and-run case wherein a car he was present in rammed into pavement dwellers sleeping near American Express bakery in Bandra, killing one and injuring four others.

However, in a recent hearing, the Bombay High Court acquitted him of all charges.
