Last night, the Prime Minister of India – Narendra Modi – had organised a special event at his Delhi residence. It was to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary and talk about shows and movies that honoured Gandhi. Interestingly, PM Modi brought half of the Bollywood under one roof, as his guest list included Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kangana Ranaut, Rajkumar Hirani and other stalwarts from the film industry. Around the same time, a special clip was unveiled by Salman Khan and it featured many B-townies. The black and white clip featured Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Sonam Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut and Vicky Kaushal and sees them sharing Gandhi and his inspiring teachings. It has been helmed by filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, who, in the past, had directed Lage Raho Munna Bhai, a film based on Mahatma Gandhi and his principles. Salman Khan, in his caption, wrote, “One man changed our entire nation. His thoughts, his legacy will forever live on. Honouring 150 years of Gandhiji.”

Rajkumar Hirani, on the other hand, expressed his elation by writing, “Deeply honoured to have played a small part in showcasing Mahatma Gandhiji’s greatness. Celebrating and saluting 150 years of the Mahatma".

At the event, Narendra Modi was quoted as saying, “Gandhi is synonymous with simplicity. His thoughts reverberate far and wide. The power of creativity is immense, and it is essential to harness this spirit of creativity for our nation. Several people from the world of films and television have been doing great work when it comes to popularising the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi.”
