Salim Khan Speaks Up On #MeToo; Says, "Better Late Than Never"
#MeToo movement has found support in Salim Khan. The celebrated writer has a fitting reply to those who question victims about taking time to speak up
Salim Khan is a man of opinions. He
has never refrained from putting forth his voice. Now, that the nation is going
through the #MeToo movement, Salim Khan has also spoken up about the same.
He took to Twitter to write, "The only defence they
have is "Why so late ?” It is better late than never. You don’t have to
wait for the result, you have already won great public support. Aadmi pahad se
gir kar khadda ho sakta hai…apni nazron se girkar nahin (sic)."
Clearly, he is lashing out at the naysayers, many of whom
have been questioning victims about coming out and naming the offenders years
later.
The whole #MeToo movement began with the allegations Tanushree Dutta put forth against Nana Patekar. She had said that during the shoot of an item song for Horn 'Ok' Pleassss, Nana wanted to change the steps of the song and wanted to add in an intimate step. This didn't go down well with Tanushree who decided to walk out of the sets after a while.
Soon after her opening up about the harassment, lots of women have come up and spoken about having faced sexual harassment or abuse or misconduct. Nobody expected that Tanushree's allegations against Nana will snowball into a revolution of sorts.
