Salman Khan Hit-And-Run Case: Verdict Likely Today
The verdict in the Salman Khan hit-and-run case is likely to be delivered a few hours from now.

We hear, a huge crowd has thronged the Bombay High Court premises, where security has been beefed up.

Yesterday, the court had said there was no conclusive evidence to prove that the actor was under the influence of alcohol on the night of September 28 (2002), when his car rammed into a Bandra bakery killing one and injuring four.

Justice A.R. Joshi dismissed the evidence of policeman Ravindra Patil, Salman's former bodyguard and a witness in the case, calling his statement "wholly unreliable." Patil passed away in 2007.

The trial court had accepted Patil's statement, based on which the actor was convicted for five years. The defence, however, challenged the admissibility of the statement and said since Patil was not available for cross-examination, it should not be accepted.

Though the High Court found Patil's evidence "unreliable", it is yet to give a ruling on the admissibility of his statement.

While Salman did not attend the hearing, his sister Alvira Khan-Agnihotri was present at the court yesterday.
