Salim Khan In Rajya Sabha?
Rumours are flying thick and fast in Delhi that Salim Khan will be nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the year-end.

Coincidentally or not, the nomination will take place when the term of his former co-scriptwriter Javed Akhtar ends in the Upper House of Parliament.

That Salim saab is close to the BJP became common knowledge during the last general election campaigns. Son Salman Khan had also been seen in photographs with the now Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Not surprisingly, Salim saab and his family had been invited to the swearing-in ceremony of the Prime Minister.

Javed Akhtar, during his five years as a Rajya Sabha member, has been attending Parliament sessions regularly and has championed social causes besides arguing for a share in the copyright of films for writers and lyricists.

Salim-Javed, who insisted on prominent billing in a film's credits, posters and hoardings, parted ways soon after writing Ramesh Sippy's Shakti (1982). They had begun their glorious innings together with the same director's Andaz (1971) and went on to script the godpapa of blockbusters, Sholay, for Ramesh Sippy.

Efforts to bring back the scriptwriters together again have been in vain. Incidentally, Salim saab, at the age of 79, is nine years senior to Javed saab.

Ironically now, in the highest echelon of politics, it seems to be a case of exit Javed Akhtar, enter Salim Khan.
