Indian Film Industry's veteran actor Salim Ghouse passed away due to a cardiac arrest on Thursday 28th April at the age of 70. The actor was rushed to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on Wednesday, after a day he was declared dead. His wife Anita and son Arayaama revealed that the actor did not recover and thus was declared dead. Ghouse gained a lot of popularity from his films like Bharat Ek Khoj, Wagle Ki Duniya, Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi and Subah. He also worked with superstars like Shah Rukh Khan and Bobby Deol.

The actor even won many awards for his notable performances in Chakra (1981), Saaraansh and Mohan Joshi Hazir Ho! (both 1984), and Trikaal (1985). Not just in films, Salim Ghouse was also very well known on TV for his roles in Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi (1984), Subah (1987), X-Zone (1998), Samvidhan (2014), and Bharat Ek Khoj. He also did a few English films including The Perfect Murder and The Deceivers.

Heartfelt tributes are pouring in from Bollywood and fans on social media. Veteran actor Jaaferi took to his Twitter handle and wrote, "Salim Ghouse, a man with a lot of self-respect and a multitalented multifaceted powerhouse of a performer who captured audiences in Bharat ek Khoj, Koyla etc. passes away. RIP Salim sahab. Heartfelt condolences to the family."

Offering his condolence, actor Ranvir Shorey tweeted "RIP, #SalimGhouse, a powerhouse of talent and style. His performance in ‘Subah’ on DD is forever etched on my mind. Om Shanti.  #respect".

Film directors Shyam Benegal, Govind Nihalani, and actor Naseeruddin Shah also visited his Yari Road residence to offer their condolences.

 For the unversed, Ghouse was born in Chennai to a Kerala Christian mother and a Hyderabadi Muslim father, he completed his graduation from FTII Pune before making his way to Mumbai. He made a name for himself in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam cinema as well.
