If one was to
talk about Bollywood’s most free-spoken stars, Rishi Kapoor is sure to find a
mention. The senior actor made an appearance on the second season of Neha
Dhupia’s audio chat show, #NoFilterNeha and was in his element as he took the
actress’ questions head on.
To begin with,
he was asked to name one quality that Ranbir Kapoor has inherited from him, to
which, Rishi Kapoor said, “I don’t know about me but he has inherited patience
from Neetu. In fact, he is very obliging. The kind I don’t like at all. In the
past, I didn’t have patience to give autographs. Now, with the digital age, I
can’t give selfies either. It’s annoying. I feel like giving one tight slap to
the bugger who asks for one because itni der mein to main picture Bana leta.
Usko button nai milta selfie lene ke liye.”
The senior actor
also opined that going digital has changed the way of filmmaking, an aspect
which he finds difficult to keep pace with. “Directors today cover a scene in
all the angles and in the bargain actors are getting screwed. Amit ji was also
complaining about the same. I have had problems with Shakun Batra and Rakeysh
Mehra in the past. I am old fashioned. I cannot develop the skills that I
should. I am not a method actor. So it is difficult for me.”
Rishi Kapoor Reveals He Doesn't Have The Patience For Selfies
Doesn’t that
make him a difficult actor to work with? “I am a very difficult actor to work
with. I function within my own functioning. I am very particular about my look
and the overall scene. I have a different way of working. Shakun and I were
never on the same page while shooting for Kapoor and Sons,” he explained.
Furthermore, he
also elaborated on what infuriates him about the current lot of actors. He
said, “This generation is so fashion conscious and that too in a bad way. They
will go to a Chautha and wear their beiges and whites, dark glasses and show
off because it will be in an air conditioned place. Ye besharam actors ko
sharam nai aati? Raat ko bhi chashma pehen ke airport pe aate hain. But it's
become a style statement. There's an airport look and there's a Chautha look. I
am told by certain photographers that actors call us and tell that we are
taking a flight.”
Addressing the
award shows today, he candidly confessed that they are not on merit anymore.
“It’s a fashion parade. Award shows are not given only based on merit. It's a
compromise, given in a lieu of something. They are a joke in our country. You
don't have to take it seriously. The biggest reward is a film's performance,”
he opined.
Kapoor receives
a lot of comments on his brazen tweets, when asked about the backlash he said,
“What I tweet, I tweet for myself. I can't always be right,” he stated.
