Richa Chadha Defends Delhi Crime’s Emmy Win After A Netizen Says ‘Horrific’ Moment Has Become A ‘Pride’ Moment And Is Being Celebrated
Netflix series Delhi Crime recently bagged the International Emmy award for the best drama series. Now, after a Netizen expressed their displeasure over Delhi’s crime being celebrated, Richa Chadha came out in defense of the show
Netflix show Delhi Crime recently won International Emmy for the ‘Best Drama’ and the news was being celebrated all over the country. A lot of celebrities took to social media to send in their congratulations. The show was based on the 16th December, 2012 rape case and some of the users on Twitter had a problem as they claimed that the horrific incident has become a pride moment for the country. Actor Richa Chadha came out in defense of the show.
She first congratulated the show by tweeting, “Congratulations to the whole cast and crew of #DelhiCrime for this huge international recognition and making India proud ! @RichieMehta @ShefaliShah_ @RasikaDugal @_AdilHussain @rajeshtailang #Samyukthasheikh heart is happy.” A user then replied to this tweet of hers by saying, “I don’t understand that how that horrific night has become pride moment for India. Such a shame to celebrate this moment. Delhi ka crime aaj congratulatory moment ban Gaya hai. #ShameOnDelhiCrime.”
Responding to this, the actor replied, “Actual crime ko kam karne ke liye kuch kiya aapne (What have you done to lessen the actual crime)? Shame on rape culture bol na, why the show? The industry is celebrating the achievement of a show made on the subject that won big internationally. Fix reality first. Many rapes, as brutal have occurred. You can’t deny reality.”

A lot of Twitter users came to the actor’s defense and applauded her for it. The show starring Shefali Shah as the Deputy Commissioner of police portrayed the task force and their handling of the aftermath of the brutal crime.
