During a conversation with Chetan Bhagat on his show, Deep Talk With Chetan Bhagat, Rhea expressed her desire to resolve everything, even if it meant facing incarceration. She acknowledged the intrusive nature of her life being on display, and amidst the challenges, she considered going to jail as a means to bring clarity and resolution. Rhea stated, "It had become a show, and my life was on display. I was like, stop it. I thought, ye ho hi jaaye toh better hai (let it happen). Let me go to jail. So many people were after me, that existence was not okay for me. In September 2020, Rhea faced arrest and spent nearly a month in jail. In a conversation, the Chehre actress disclosed that one of the most challenging aspects of her incarceration was the inadequate toilet facilities. However, she emphasized that the mental anguish overshadowed the physical discomfort. Rhea explained, "Mental trauma is so much harder than the physical trauma starts paling in front of it. You think ‘Ganda bathroom toh manage kar lungi’ (I will manage the dirty bathroom)."




Back in September 2020, Rhea Chakraborty was apprehended by the Narcotics Control Bureau in relation to Sushant Singh Rajput's death. The actor had been discovered deceased in his Mumbai residence in June 2020, and Rhea, who was in a relationship with him at the time, faced a 28-day incarceration before securing bail.
