Bollywood’s veteran actress Reena Roy, who made her debut with Zaroorat, enjoyed a huge fanbase in the 70s and 80s. With films like Jaise Ko Taisa (1973), Zakhmee (1975), and Sanam Teri Kasam (1982) she was one of the popular actresses of her time. The actress, after her marriage to Pakistani cricketer Mohsin Khan in the early-90s, had announced her sabbatical from acting. She has been opening about her life experiences through various media interactions.

During a recent interview with ETimes, the 65-year-old actress opened up about the difficulties she had to face, when her marriage fell apart after the birth of her daughter Jannat. She recalled how she had struggled to gain custody of her daughter, whose name was later changed to Sanam, after her divorce with ex-husband Mohsin Khan. She spoke about even taking the help from the saints and sadhus to finally get her daughter back. Talking about the reason behind the divorce, Roy revealed that she couldn’t adjust to her ex-husband’s lifestyle. She mentions how the Pakistani cricketer wanted to settle down in London and take-up British citizenship. However she wasn’t ready for it, the cricketer had then gone on to keep their daughter away from her so that as a desperate mother yearning for her kid, she would follow them to London and settle down there. 

She further revealed that even though the couple separated on a bitter note, Mohsin is a great father to their daughter. Reena shares that the father-daughter share a very close bond with each other. She said, “He’s in touch with her. They share a close father-daughter bond. He’s settled well in life. I pray that God keeps him healthy and happy.”

In one of her previous interviews, she had also expressed her desire to start acting again. Talking about the same, she had said, “This new year I have decided that I will be working in OTT. I am getting offers. I would like to work in regional films too from Punjabi to Tamil, Telugu, I want to work on everything.”
