Farhan Akhtar has finally done it! The actor and filmmaker has finally put all the speculations to rest around the third film in the Don franchise. The filmmaker has announced Don 3 while sharing a teaser of the film on social media and the announcement video featured the words, “A new era begins”.
While announcing the film, Akhtar did not reveal the cast of the much-anticipated film. However, a few reports suggest that Ranveer Singh will be replacing Shah Rukh Khan as Don in the new film. However, the film’s team has not confirmed the news.
For the unversed, Farhan Akhtar and producer Ritesh Sidhwani bought the rights to the original, Amitabh Bachchan-led 1978 film Don and remade it with Shah Rukh and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the lead roles.
They released the first Don in 2006 and later came out with the second instalment in 2011, which had SRK and Priyanka reprising their roles.
Previously, Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar’s partner at production banner Excel Entertainment, had confirmed Don 3. Speaking to PTI the filmmaker had said, “Till my partner (Farhan Akhtar) finishes writing it, we won’t do anything. Right now, he is in the phase of completing the script… Even all of us are eagerly waiting to see ‘Don’.”
