With Karan Johar announcing his next directorial, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, reuniting Gully Boy pair of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, here’s a look at more such pairs who are reuniting after having faced success earlier
Today, five years after Ae Dil Hai Mushkil featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karan Johar announced his next directorial, titled Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, which will reunite the Gully Boy pair of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt.
Just like that, there are several others tried and tested pairs of Bollywood that are awaiting reunion on the big screen. Let’s take a look at some of them:
Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt
Ranveer and Alia both took away the hearts of the audience with their spellbinding performances in Gully Boy. There chemistry was applauded by all and the duo won the Filmfare trophies for Best Actor and Actress respectively as well for the award-winning film. Now, two years later, KJo is bringing the much-loved couple together on screen in an out and out love story, with his latest directorial Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.
Akshay Kumar-Bhumi Pednekar
Akshay and Bhumi impressed the audiences with their chemistry in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, that also helped deliver a social message in a filmi way. And now four years later, the duo is collaborating again in Aanand L Rai’s Raksha Bandhan, which will see Akshay in the part of a doting brother to his three sisters.
Jacqueline Fernandez-Akshay Kumar
After working together in Housefull2, Housefull 3 and Brothers, Akshay and Jacqueline are collaborating again for not just one but two films, one after the other. The first one is Sajid Nadiadwala’s Bachchan Pandey, which will also reunite Akshay with his Housefull 4 co-actor Kriti Sanon, and then in Ram Setu, which will also feature Nushrratt Baruccha.
Tiger Shroff-Kriti Sanon
After making an amazing debut together in Sajid Nadiadwala’s Heropanti in 2014, Tiger and Kriti are coming back on screen together after seven years in Vikas Bahl’s Ganapath. The film will also have another heroine in the film, but that part is yet to be officially announced. Although, names of actresses like Nora Fatehi and Kriti’s sister Nupur Sanon have been doing rounds.
Kriti Sanon-Rajkummar Rao
Kriti and Rajkummar both amazed the audiences with their performance in Bareilly Ki Barfi, and even though they didn’t end up together in the film, the duo is getting a second chance in Dinesh Vijan’s Second Innings. The duo would be seen adopting parents in the film which also features Paresh Rawal and Ratna Pathak Shah.
Tara Sutaria-Tiger Shroff
They took the Student Of The Year franchise forward together along with Ananya Panday, and now Tiger and Tara are ready to take the former’s debut film’s legacy forward with Ahmed Khan’s Heropanti 2. The film is expected to go on floors by the year end and will see Tiger doing some heavy-duty action on screen again.
Saif Ali Khan-Rani Mukerji
This cute couple of the 2000s that featured in films like Hum Tum, Ta Ra Rum Pum and Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, is all set to reunite after over a decade to carry forward the legacy of Abhishek Bachchan and Rani’s Bunty Aur Babli. And in this con ride, Saif and Rani have two more fellow passengers in Siddhanth Chaturvedi and Sharvari.
John Abraham-Jacqueline Fernandez
The Dishoom pair is set to reignite the screens together in Attack, but this time around the third party in their camp is not Varun Dhawan but Rakul Preet Singh.
Varun Dhawan-Kriti Sanon
Varun and Kriti appeared together in Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale, but the main attraction there was the reunion of the hit 90s couple, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. Now, with Amit Sharma’s Bhediya, the duo is set to reunite, but this time instead of the action-romance space, the reunion will take place in a horror universe.
Aamir Khan-Kareena Kapoor Khan
Kareena is one of the few actresses who have worked with all the three Khans—Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir—and that too on multiple occasions. Now, the Talaash and 3 Idiots pair is reuniting for Laal Singh Chadha, which is an official remake of the Tom Hanks-starrer Forrest Gump.
Rakul Preet Singh-Ajay Devgn
After starring together in De De Pyaar De, Ajay and Rakul are reuniting for Indra Kumar’s social comedy, Thank God, which will also reunite Rakul with her Neeraj Pandey’s Aiyyary and Milap Milan Zaveri’s Marjaavaan, co-actor Sidharth Malhotra.
Taapsee Pannu-Pavail Gulati
After giving a smashing success last year with Anubhav Sinha’s Thappad, Taapsee and Pavail are reuniting for Anurag Kashyap’s Dobaara, and this time we are hoping there will be no domestic violence involved.
