Ranbir Kapoor's Film Lands Gattu In Legal Soup
Here's the latest update from the world of Bollywood. We bet you wouldn't want to miss this. Read on for details... Eros International demands a refund of Rs 60 lakh from him
If you thought Fitoor is the only thing that’s keeping Abhishek Kapoor busy these days, you couldnt be more wrong. The director, who sent a legal notice to Excel Entertainment for excluding him from the credits of Rock On!! sequel sometime back, has now received a legal notice himself.
Eros International has sent him a notice for refusing to refund an advance of Rs 60 lakh. Turns out, Gattu (as Abhishek Kapoor is called in the industry) had planned to make a film with Ranbir Kapoor in the lead and took this amount as part of his fee for the same.
While the transaction took place in August 2010 and the concept of the film too was finalised, the director has still not begun any work on the project.
A source says, "Gattu has instead chosen to only helm the Katrina Kaif, Aditya Roy Kapur and Rekha-starrer, leaving the studio exasperated."
Not just that, initially, Eros and Abhishek had agreed upon Rs. 2.5 crore as his directorial fee. But when the studio pushed him to begin work on the proposed movie, Abhishek asked his fee to be stepped up to Rs. 5 crore an amount that wasnt acceptable to the production house.
The studio sent several letters to him but Gattu did not respond.
Adds the source, "Eros International was forced to send a legal notice to him, asking for a refund."
