Neetu Kapoor, once a leading actress in Hindi cinema, achieved great fame with her roles in iconic films like Amar Akbar Anthony, Deewaar, Kabhi Kabhie, and Yaarana. Her popularity soared during the mid-1970s, establishing her as one of the top stars of that era. However, her flourishing career came to a halt when she chose to leave the film industry after marrying the late Rishi Kapoor.The marriage of Neetu and Rishi Kapoor frequently attracted media attention. In an interview with The Big Indian Picture around the release of his film Rockstar, Ranbir candidly discussed the public scrutiny of his parents' marriage. He recalled, "At that time, the press didn’t matter because I was in the middle of it. Living with my parents, I was part of the experience. I remember spending hours sitting on the staircases, from 1 am to 5 am, listening to their arguments and the sound of things breaking. While everyone experiences familial conflicts, the fact that my parents were celebrities meant their issues were magnified in the press. It was somewhat embarrassing at school; although my friends were supportive and didn’t bring it up, there was always an unspoken awareness of my situation. But you learn to cope with it." Neetu Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor tied the knot on January 22, 1980. Following their marriage, Neetu appeared in her last film of that era, Ganga Meri Maa, directed by Shyam Ralhan. The couple's daughter, Riddhima Kapoor, was born in September 1980, followed by their son, Ranbir Kapoor, in September 1982. 




After a long hiatus from the silver screen, Neetu Kapoor made a comeback in 2009. She has since appeared in several films, including Do Dooni Chaar, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Besharam, Special 26, and Jug Jugg Jeeyo. Tragically, Rishi Kapoor passed away in April 2020 after a battle with cancer, leaving a significant void in the film industry and their family.
