Ranbir Kapoor Opens Up About His Happily Married Life With Alia Bhatt, Says 'She Changed More For Me'

Ranbir Kapoor recently shared insights into his relationship with his wife, Alia Bhatt, during a conversation on Nikhil Kamath's podcast. He candidly discussed how Alia has played a pivotal role in transforming his life and the dynamics of their marriage. The acclaimed actor, known for his upcoming film ‘Animal,’ acknowledged the importance of compromise and selflessness within a marriage, emphasizing that both partners must adapt for the relationship to thrive. In his reflections on the realities of marriage, Ranbir pointed out that significant adjustments are often necessary. He illustrated this with a personal anecdote, saying, “She, for example, used to speak in a very loud tone and I think because of my father’s tone, growing up, that always kind of rattled me. So she really made efforts to change that. And that’s not easy. When you have lived 30 years of your life speaking a certain way (sic).” This highlights the challenges that come with altering ingrained habits for the sake of a partner. Ranbir further emphasized the unrealistic nature of expecting both partners to remain unchanged. He stated, “She changed more for me than I have changed for her. I am acknowledging it but I should do something about it, I should change a bit (sic).” This acknowledgment reflects his understanding that mutual growth is essential for a harmonious relationship.
Additionally, Ranbir opened up about his experiences with therapy, explaining why it was not effective for him. He shared, “I have tried therapy before my father got sick. I don’t think it worked for me for two reasons. Firstly, because I couldn’t express myself completely to the therapist. Secondly, the therapist in some way was teaching me how to manipulate life (sic).”
Ranbir and Alia, who tied the knot on April 14, 2022, after dating for a few years, celebrated their union with an intimate ceremony surrounded by close family and friends at their Mumbai residence. The couple welcomed their daughter, Raha Kapoor, on November 6 of the same year and made their first public appearance as a family during a Christmas photo opportunity in December 2023. Their journey together continues to evolve as they navigate the challenges and joys of parenthood and partnership.
