Rakhee Gulzar Won’t Write Her Memoir; Legendary Actress Says, 'It Is Either The Whole Truth Or Nothing For Me'-EXCLUSIVE
Rakhee Gulzar spoke about writing her memoir and says if she writes then it has to be all out or else there is no point being selective.
Very few know the legendary Raakhee Gulzar as well as I do. Whenever we speak there’s no room for deception, subterfuge and evasiveness. It’s all straight-talk with Rakhee. It has to be. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be talking to me.
Her proclivity to cut across the bullshit is what makes her unique. She can be blunt, so blunt that the person in front of her gets deeply embarrassed. Can such a person write her memoirs? Ideally, yes. Only those who dare to speak the truth should write about their lives. Tragically in our entertainment industry, most of those who write their memoirs lie in their books.
Some years ago the mythical Vyjanthimala embarrassed herself when in her memoirs she outright denied having had any relationship with Raj Kapoor during the making of Sangam. Raj Saab’s son Rishi Kapoor took strong exception to Vyjanthimalaji’s self-denial and told the world that her relationship with the Showman created havoc in his mother’s life.
Ironically Rishi Kapoor didn’t exactly tell the entire truth in his memoirs. But we will let that be. In small quantities or big, everyone in the entertainment business must gloss over the truth. Rakhee won’t be comfortable telling selected truths.
“It is either the whole truth or nothing for me. I would rather not tell my story than tell it selectively. You know me. Those who are close to me know the truth and that’s enough for me,” says Rakhee.
We quite agree!
