R Madhavan Is In Disbelief After Seeing Photos Of Olympics Silver Medalist Mirabai Chanu’s Manipur Home; Exclaims ‘This Cannot Be True’
Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu has become the first Indian to bag a silver medal in the women's 49kg category in Tokyo Olympics 2020. The entire nation has been cheering and hailing her for the mega win. Not only the nation, but even the entertainment industry praised the weightlifter for representing India with such glory. After winning a silver, photos of Mirabai Chanu’s Manipur home went viral on the social media. In one of the pictures, Mirabai along with her family members were seen sitting on the floor and having dinner. 

Seeing the photos on social media, actor R Madhavan was at a loss of words. He said he couldn't believe the pictures. He said, “Hey this cannot be true. I am at a complete loss of words," quoting a Twitter user’s tweet which read, “Mirabai Chanu at her humble home in Manipur after winning the Silver Medal at the #Olympics This strong willed woman didn't let lack of resources & poverty stop her from achieving her dreams! A true Inspiration! @Rajeev_GoI @ActorMadhavan”

Reacting to his tweet, a user commented, “Yes this is true and maximum of Manipur athletes are from poor background but have strong willpower and determination…” Another one said, “Unfortunately true and sad as well. Many a talent is wasted because of poverty and lack of resources”

Earlier, when Chanu bagged the medal, Madhavan took to his micro-blogging site to express his happiness and wrote, “Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu Wins India's First Medal At Tokyo Olympics, Bags Silver In Women's 49kg.. AWESOMEEEEE GO INDIAAAAA”


Farhan Akhtar, Anil Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, and many other actors had earlier taken to Twitter to wish Mirabai Chanu. Abhishek Bachchan said, “Congratulations @mirabai_chanu on bringing India a silver medal in weightlifting and giving us a strong start! #TokyoOlympics #Cheer4India @WeAreTeamIndia” Farhan Akhtar tweeted, “Congratulations #MirabaiChanu .. #TokyoOlympics2021 #Weightlifting”
