Pregnant Dia Mirza Says COVID-19 Vaccines In India Are Not Tested On Would-Be And Lactating Mothers, Says Doctor Advised Her Against Being Vaccinated
Dia Mirza says her doctor advised her to wait until clinical trials on pregnant women are done for COVID-19 vaccines in India, as they have still not been tested for pregnant and lactating women
In April 2021, while on her vacation to the Maldives with husband Vaibhav Rekhi, actress Dia Mirza announced her pregnancy by dropping a picture of her caressing her baby bump. The Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein actress raised her concern over the COVID-19 vaccine for pregnant ladies and lactating mothers. Reaction came from the actress after a gynecologist tweeted that the government should also introduce vaccines for the pregnant ladies. In her series of Tweets she also unveiled about many pregnant ladies are being treated at hospitals in Delhi who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Reacting to this the actress tweeted, the said doctor’s tweets being a must read and also none of the COVID-19 vaccine used in India, are tested for pregnant ladies and lactating mothers. The Thappad actress also shared her doctor’s take on the vaccine that pregnant ladies should wait until the clinical trials are done. Her Tweet read, “This is really important. Must read and also note that none of the vaccinations currently being used in India have been tested on pregnant and lactating mothers. My doctor says we cannot take these vaccines until required clinical trials have been done.”

When an Instagram user asked why she did not announce her pregnancy before her wedding, replying to this the actress wrote, “Interesting question. Firstly, we didn't marry because we were having a baby together. We were already marrying as we wanted to spend our lives together. We discovered we were going to have a baby while we were planning our wedding. So this marriage is not the result of pregnancy.”
