After actor turned politician, Urmila Matondkar spoke out in support of veteran actor and Samajwadi Party MP, Jaya Bachchan, against Kangana Ranaut, the Manikarnika actress went on to slam the Rangeela actress in an interview. During an interview with Times Now, Kangana called Urmila Matondkar a ‘soft porn star’. Now, Pooja Bhatt took to her social media handle to tweet about Urmila Matondkar’s performance in the film Rangeela, after Kangana Ranaut’s remarks. The Sadak 2 actress sung praises of Urmila Matondkar in her tweet.

You left us all,co-actors and an entire generation of movie goers awestruck! Sensuality & dignity.. two qualities you combined & embodied. Respect!”
After Kangana’s remarks episode, Pooja Bhatt made a tweet and tagged Urmila Matondkar, calling her a ‘legend’. In her tweet, Pooja Bhatt spoke about Matondkar’s performance in the 1995 film Rangeela directed by Ram Gopal Varma. As Matondkar established herself with the romantic drama, Pooja Bhatt said that watching the actress in the film Rangeela was a treat visually, and emotionally. She then mentioned in her tweet that Urmila Matondkar raised the bar for all of her co-actors in so many ways and said that she left all moviegoers awestruck. Pooja Bhatt also mentioned that she respects Urmila Matondkar’s two qualities ‘sensuality and dignity’ that she combined.

Meanwhile, Urmila Matondkar earned her first nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress when she played Mili Joshi in the 1995 film Rangeela. The film also starred Jackie Shroff and Aamir Khan and was helmed by Ram Gopal Varma.
