PM Narendra Modi Biopic: This Vivek Oberoi Starrer Will Have To Wait A Day Longer As SC Postpones Hearing
Supreme Court postponed the hearing of Vivek Oberoi starrer PM Narendra Modi biopic to Tuesday, says it cannot pass an order without a Censor certificate
The biopic on life of PM Narendra Modi seems to be getting no respite. From the beginning of time, the movie has been riddled in several controversies. This Modi film hasn’t received a Censor certificate yet, and hence the release date of April 5 had to be pushed ahead.
Today, the Supreme Court was to pass an order seeking a stay on the biopic, but they postponed it to Tuesday. The court states that the Censor Board hasn’t issued a certification and hence, the plea will be heard on Tuesday and in the meantime, the petitioner could bring on record what was objectionable in the movie.
A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi refused the petitioner’s plea and said, "Why should we direct that an individual be given a copy of the film."
The bench also comprising of Justices Deepak Gupta and Sanjiv Khanna said, "Why should we direct that individual be given a copy of the film." Senior advocate A M Singhvi said that producer Sandeep Ssingh had released a statement that the biopic will release on April 11.
The bench stated that the producer may have given such a statement assuming that the film will get a certification from the Censor Board. The bench also stated that there is no cause of action or sufficient evidence to challenge its release.
