PM Narendra Modi Biopic Granted U Certificate; Will Hit Theatres On April 11
After getting stuck at the Censor Board, Vivek Oberoi’s PM Narendra Modi has finally received a censor certificate from the board. The film will now release just when the Lok Sabha polls begin
PM Narendra Modi biopic on Tuesday was granted 'unrestricted' (U) certificate for release by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). SpotboyE.com had told you that the film has got stuck with the Censor Board, just a day before its release, April 5. The film couldn’t hit theatres on its decided date but has now been cleared by the board for an April 11 release.
Confirming the news, film's director Omung Kumar B told IANS, "We knew it will happen. Finally, it's out.”
In a statement, later, Omung added: "The team and I were convinced of what we have made. It's a piece of cinema and not propaganda and now the Censor Board has validated what we have been saying all along. Very thankful and excited for the April 11. I hope the audiences enjoy this film, which for me, has been my toughest film till date."
The film, which narrates the story of Modi from his humble beginnings to becoming the Prime Minister of India, will release on April 11, when the Lok Sabha elections begin. Interestingly, April 11 was the film’s original date but later it was preponed to April 5.
The CBFC certificate for PM Narendra Modi biopic came on the same day as the Supreme Court's dismissal of a plea seeking a stay on the film's release. The court said the Election Commission is the appropriate authority to address the petitioner's concerns on whether the film should be released in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as it may tilt the balance or benefit a particular political party. Now that the certificate is in place and a revised release date has been given, we’re sure Team Narendra Modi biopic will be elated.
