Pakistani Actor Adnan Siddiqui Bashes Sidharth Malhotra’s Mission Majnu; Says, ‘How Much Misrepresentation Is Too Much?’
Over the years, Bollywood filmmakers have made a name for themselves for stereotyping cultures and various sections of people. While in recent years the audience has seen a shift in the portrayal of people on the big-screen, typecasting characters is prevalent. Pakistani actor Adnan Siddiqui, recently took to social media to criticise the makers of the recently released Mission Majnu starring Sidharth Malhortra and Rashmika Mandanna.

Sharing a thumbs down photo, Adnan bashed the creators for their poor research, poor execution and poor story. Talking about how factually inaccurate the movie was, he advised Bollywood to hire good researchers. Sharing a few notes on their culture, he wrote, “Make sure to take notes—no, we don’t wear skull caps, surma, tawiz; no, we don’t ask janab about their mijaz; no, we don’t go around throwing adaab.” ALSO READ: Sidharth Malhotra's Mission Majnu Lands In Trouble? He further wrote, “There’s so much in #MissionMajnu that’s distasteful & factually incorrect. The hero’s saviour complex would’ve accentuated more if the villain was shown at par. A weak antagonist embellishes even weaker protagonist.” Siddiqui, who starred in the movie Mom alongside Sridevi, invited Bollywood to his country and told them, he will “show you how we look like, dress up and live.” ALSO READ: OMG! For the unversed, release and streaming on Netflix, the Shantanu Bagchi directorial was set up in the 1970s, where an undercover-Indian spy goes on a mission to expose a nuclear weapons program in Pakistan which could lead to world destruction. Ever since it’s release, the movie has been subjected to a lot of hate and criticism for its poor storyline and focusing majorly on the romantic track between the leads, rather than the deadly mission.
