On Irrfan Khan's Birth Anniversary, Shoojit Sircar Recalls What The Late Actor Said During The Last Few Days Of Piku Shoot; 'I Miss My Irrfan'
Irrfan Khan, one of the finest of Bollywood, left for his heavenly abode on April 29, 2020. For his fans, it is still unbelievable that he is no more. Today, January 7 marks his birth anniversary. On this day, filmmaker Shoojit Sircar who had been a very good friend to Irrfan Khan remembered some sweet bits from the sets of the film Piku that also starred Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone. The filmmaker recalled the things Irrfan said over the last few days of the shoot.

To E!Times, Shoojit said, "On the last few days of his schedule of Piku, Irrfan would often say, ‘Dada, can’t we go on shooting like this? I am feeling like a free bird. I don’t want this moment to stop. Please, aap kuch bhi kara lo mujhse. I can’t explain this feeling. Can’t we just go on and on?’ I miss my Irrfan, today and every other day."

The filmmaker and Irrfan Khan have worked on several projects together and were going to collaborate once again for the biopic of Udham Singh. However, due to Irrfan's untimely demise, the dream of seeing him in and as Udham Singh in the film could not be accomplished. Now, it is Vicky Kaushal who has signed the film with Shoojit Sircar.

On Irrfan Khan's birth anniversary, his son Babil Khan too made a heartfelt post on social media saying, "You never identified with institutions such as contractual marriage and birthday celebrations. Perhaps, that is why I don’t remember anyone’s birthdays because you never remembered mine and never encouraged me to remember yours. It was just normal to us what seemed absurd from the outside, we celebrated everyday (bringing personal experiential authenticity to the cliche). On the occasion, Mamma would have to remind us both; but this time I could not forget yours if I tried."
