Taha Shah Badussha recalls the time he was left heartbroken after knowing that Karan Johar didn’t want to see him audition
Actor Taha Shah Badussha gained fame and recognition after his portrayal of Tajdar Baloch in Heermand: The Diamond Bazaar. He left the netizens captivated, who tagged him as the national crush. The actor has now been openly talking about his journey in the entertainment industry and his experience of working with the renowned filmmakers of Bollywood. During a recent interview, he shared how he bagged a role in a Yash Raj Films project, over a decade ago. He went on to recall how he missed the opportunity to audition for Karan Johar.
Talking about missing his opportunity to audition for Johar’s production house, Dharma Productions, he told Social Kandura that he ran after the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani filmmaker’s car to get an audition with him. Taking a trip down memory lane, he recalled how he got a call from Shanoo Sharma, 5-6 months after trying to get auditions in Mumbai. Quoted by the Free Press Journal, he added, “She said, ‘Karan Johar wants to test this girl, but you can come and test with her, and he might see you’. So, I’m like, ‘I’ll take that opportunity; why not?'” ALSO READ: WHAT? The 36-year-old shared that he completed a prior shoot commitment and reached the production house when he received a call from Sharma. She told him that Karan didn’t want to see him. He further shared, “ She asked me where I was, and I told her that I was far away and that was fine. I went back in an auto. The Luv Ka The End actor revealed that after bagging his film, he ran after Johar’s car to show it to him. Taha said, “I ran after Karan Johar sir’s car and I hit his car telling him that I just got a film. ‘I want to show it to you; please give me your number’. He was very kind to give me his number and asked me if I was okay. He offered me some water, and that’s how I met him for the first time. Later, I went to his office and got the audition for Gippi.”
On the work front, Taha Shah Badussha was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The makers of the show recently announced that Heeramandi has been renewed for another season. According to the filmmaker, the second season will follow the tawaifs' journey in the Mumbai or Kolkata film industry after they leave Lahore, post-independence.
