On Thursday, Twitter removed legacy verified blue ticks from all accounts that don’t pay a monthly fee to keep them. Many eminent leaders and Bollywood celebrities including megastar Amitabh Bachchan, superstar Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, comedian Vir Das, Ravi Kishan, Nargis Fakhri among others to cricketers like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, have lost their verified blue ticks from their official Twitter accounts. Many stars have reacted to losing the blue tick.

Vir tweeted, “I like this world. To verify an artist, buy tickets, not ticks...Bye blue tick. I’m okay with someone impersonating me on twitter. You deal with the things they call me ..How about this? If you like what I’m saying…it’s the real me. If you’re pissed off/offended/looking to take action/going to complain to some sort of metaphorical papa…..this account belongs to an unverified impersonator. Cool?” 






The Rockstar actress shared her opinions, writing, “I never really come on here. i just noticed I’m no longer verified with that blue thingy. So now everyone with a blue check pays a fee for it. Hmm okay. if anyone can buy it then what’s the point.” Prakash Raj wrote, “Bye bye #BlueTick …. It was nice having you….my journey ..my conversations..my sharing…will continue with my people … you take care #justasking.” Bhojpuri superstar Ravi Kishan, tweeted, “Why me ..???? Blue tick gone ????????????? Mr musk ????”

Even American singer Beyoncé, Pope Francis, Oprah Winfrey, and former US President Donald Trump have lost their blue ticks on Twitter. As per the new rules, the price of the Blue subscriptions is different according to the market. In India, the cost of a subscription is Rs 900 per month via iPhones and Android smartphones. On the Twitter website, the cost is Rs 650 per month. There is also an option of an annual subscription that costs relatively cheaper.
