Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra created history on Saturday after he won a gold medal for India. Chopra became India’s second-ever individual to win a gold medal at the Olympics after shooter Abhinav Bindra. A 23-year old farmer’s son from Khandra village near Haryana’s Panipat, Neeraj received congratulatory messages from several Bollywood celebrities after his victory at the Summer Games. Actors Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma, Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra Jonas were among the others who made posts and congratulated Chopra.
While Neeraj Chopra received wishes from several Bollywood celebrities on Instagram, of the many, he follows only two in particular. Neeraj, who has garnered a following of 2.6 million on Instagram, after his Olympic win follows only 160 people in return. According to Neeraj Chopra’s Instagram, he is only following two Bollywood actors- Akshay Kumar and Randeep Hooda.
Talking about Akshay Kumar, the actor is known for his athleticism and interest in sports. Randeep, on the other hand, is a professional equestrian who participates in polo, showjumping and dressage events. Apart from Akshay and Randeep, Neeraj follows back Deepak Punia, boxer Manoj Kumar, Satwksai Raj Rankireddy among others. He also follows football champion, Cristiano Ronaldo. Chopra also follows Mirabai Chanu who won silver in weight-lifting at the Olympics.
Meanwhile, Neeraj Chopra won the gold after he produced a second throw of 87.58m in the finals of the javelin throw. Neeraj won the 7th medal for the country.
