Earlier this month, the BJP government suspended Nupur Sharma and expelled its Delhi unit media head Naveen Kumar Jindal following the row over their alleged derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammad. Nupur’s controversial comments escalated protests from Muslim countries. In fact, with each passing day, the controversy has been gaining momentum as Protests erupted in various states including Punjab, Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh. Amidst this row, actress Swara Bhasker recently slammed former cricketer Gautam Gambhir over his 'Secular Liberals' comment. 

Taking to his Twitter handle, Gautam Gambhir wrote, "Silence of so called ‘secular liberals’ on the sickening display of hatred & death threats throughout the country against a woman who has apologised is surely DEAFENING! #LetsTolerateIntolerance.” This tweet did not go down well with Swara who took to her Instagram account to lash out at the cricketer. Previously, Swara Bhasker had shared a note that read, “Living in India these days is to exist in a constant state of helpless rage.” Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut had earlier come out in support of Nupur Sharma and condemned death threats against her. The Queen actress advised people to take the legal route instead of playing the ‘don themselves.’    

For the unversed, the suspended BJP spokesperson made derogatory comments against Prophet Mohammad during a TV debate. Following her controversial comment, Muslim groups in countries like Kuwait, Qatar, and Iran, staged protests and slammed Nupur.
