Now, Akshay To Do A Musical
After action and comedy, Akshay Kumar is all set to try out something different -- a musical.

The movie will be co-produced by Tanuj Garg, who served as the Chief Executive Officer of Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures from October 2010 to January 2015.

Garg is joining hands with ace fashion photographer Atul Kasbekar to put together the project.

A source associated with the film revealed that it will be a musical and the duo is in talks with National Award-winning director Nittin Kakkar (of Filmistaan fame) to helm it.

While both parties are tight-lipped about the development, our source confirmed that the first draft of the script has been sent to Akshay, who has responded positively. "Now, it is a matter of dates. He is likely to commit a chunk sometime later next year which is when the project will flag off," the source said.

"As of now, the deal is in its initial stages and modalities are being worked out. If the actor's dates are available only in the second-half of 2017, Nittin might first direct a film with UTV that he has signed," the source said.

While it will be Tanuj's first venture as solo producer, Kasbekar has already produced the Sonam Kapoor-starrer Neerja, which will hit theatres next February.

Akshay, who has established himself as an excellent comedy/action film actor, has been trying to balance his out-and-out masala fare with more serious films. For example, after Singh Is Bliing, which is an action-comedy, the actor's next is Airlift, which is based on a real-life evacuation operation.
