Nothing Shaandaar About This!
Seems, Shaandaar's disastrous performance at the box office has spelt doom for Shahid Kapoor-starrer AK vs SK.

Buzz is, the film in question is unlikely to restart.

Vikas Bahl's Shaandaar, produced at a budget of Rs 77 crore, is Phantom Films' second consecutive biggie -- after Bombay Velvet -- that failed to set the cash registers ringing.

Given this history, many sections of the industry have now become wary of working on a big budget film with this production house, which has been co-founded by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Vikas Bahl and Madhu Mantena.

AK vs SK, the Vikramaditya Motwane-directorial starring Shahid Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap, was shot just for a day.

Back then, the reason given was that Sasha's look in Rangoon is clashing with the film (Shahid Kapoor Ditches Vikramaditya Motwane, October 5).

"Shahid shot for a day, but didn't want to continue further. They don't even have a heroine on board as yet. Besides, where's the money? Phantom Films has seen two massive flops this year. They need a breather and some time to re-strategise," a source close to the actor says.

The 'breather', it seems, will be permanent. We texted Vikramaditya Motwane, but he chose not to revert.

In the meanwhile, Shandaar collected just about Rs 30 crore over a four-day weekend. The film opened to Rs 12 crore and slipped from the second day onwards. It raked in a measly Rs 2 crore on Monday, its fifth day.
