No Shah Rukh At Deepika's Event, Despite Invitation

Things seem to be getting more and more complicated in the Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone equation.

Reportedly, the actress invited SRK to the launch of her foundation, Live Love Laugh. One could say that this was her attempt to smooth things over with her mentor.

What did King Khan do? The superstar was conspicuous by his absence.

Sure, the actor is out of town- but haven't there been previous instances when he has flown down specially to make appearances for his friends?

There were whispers at the event that Shah Rukh informed the Om Shanti Om actress that he isn't coming. Do we assume that King Khan is not in a mood to let bygones be bygones?

It all started when Shah Rukh's Dilwale and Deepika's Bajirao Mastani announced the same release date - December 18.

The actress then allegedly requested Shah Rukh to change the dates. Buzz is, he told her he would consider it if she asked him on social media (Deepika accepts SRK's challenge, September 30).

Instead of making this request on social media, Deepika smugly tweeted 'Challenge Accepted'. Only one thing. She soon deleted the tweet.

Surely, not a wise move but if you look closely, you can see that the actress is being used as a pawn in this fight. The real jung is between Shah Rukh and the Lullas (who own Eros, the producers of Bajirao Mastani), who have been at loggerheads ever since the failure of their joint venture Ra.One. It only got worse when Shah Rukh's Jab Tak Hai Jaan clashed with Eros' Son Of Sardaar.

Meanwhile, SRK and Eros refuse to budge from the release date of their respective films.

A quick question: Has Deepika burnt her bridges with the man who launched her in Bollywood? We hope not.

But one thing is for sure- this war has all the ingredients for a heady climax.
