Raveena Tandon Sides The Artistes In The Anjum Rizvi Non-Payment Controversy

While there was news that Raveena Tandon has been ignoring CINTAA’s (Cine & TV Artistes Association) plea asking her not to cooperate with the producer of her upcoming film Maatr, Anjum Rizvi, as he has not paid the artistes of his last film, Raveena Tandon in her latest tweet has said that her support is with the artistes.

However, she maintains that she hasn’t received any order or communication from CINTAA yet.

Rizvi's last production, the remake of Sai Paranjpye’s ‘80s cult classic Katha, did not release. In such cases, the producer is still expected to clears the dues of his actors and technicians. Unfortunately, Rizvi did not seem to follow that procedure.

The film's supporting cast including Chiranjeet Chhabra,Sneha Raikar, Bharti Kumaria, Simran Gangwani and a child artiste (name withheld on request) appealed to CINTAA  for payment of their dues. Not just them, the film's director Khalid Mohamed, who has the remake rights from the Katha producer Suresh Jindal has been short-changed and paid just a token amount for direction.

Here are the amounts which Rizvi owes to some of the supporting cast members:

Chiranjeet Chhabra – 40K
Child artiste who plays Chiranjeet’s son- 35K
Sneha Raikar - 60K
Bharti Kumaria - 40K
Simran Gangwani - 90K

Yesterday, Maatr was cleared by the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC). CBFC had earlier refused certification citing issues with the rape scene and the use of cuss words. However, Anjum did not take the film to the Revising Committee. He chose to reduce the 13 minute brutal scene to 4 minutes and deleted the cuss words too.

The film will hit theatres tomorrow.
