Neena Gupta Ends Saand Ki Aankh Ageism Debate Post Taapsee Pannu's Note, Says, 'Apna Time Ayega'

Since morning, Neena Gupta, Taapse Paanu and Bhumi Pednekar are making the headlines. After the official trailer of Saand Ki Aankh was dropped, netizens stated that they would have loved to see slightly older actresses like Neena Gupta and Shabana Azmi to have played Chandra Tomar and Prakashi Tomar in Anurag Kashyap’s Saand Ki Aankh rather than young actresses playing old characters. Replying to which Badhaai Ho actress had said, “Hamari umar ke role humse kara lo.”

A while back we brought you Rangoli’s tweet, which revealed that Kangana Ranaut was first offered Saand Ki Aankh but she had suggested Neena Gupta’s name to the makers. Her tweet even sparked ageism controversy. Rangoli wrote, “Neena ji Kangana was offered this movie and she loved the true story of Grandmom’s achievements she suggested yours and Ramya Krishnan ma’am’s name for lead roles but these men can’t remove deeply rooted sexism from their filthy brains”

Rangoli’s Tweet was followed by Taapsee Pannu’s long note where she stated that nobody questions when other celebs played older characters on-screen. But now finally Neena Gupta has reacted the controversy and wished the entire team good luck in her latest tweet. Taking to Twitter, Neena ended the controversy saying, “I liked the trailer, #SaandKiAankh and I have great respect for both the actors @bhumipednekar @taapsee chalo lets wish the film good luck also to #AnuragKashyap who I am very fond of, chalo apna time ayega” Replying to Neena Gupta’s Tweet, Taapsee thanked her for her sweet gesture.

Though Neena Gupta might have ended the ageism debate, she has surely been very bold in stating what is obvious.
