Nayanthara Upset With Atlee? Actress Isn’t Happy About Her Character Being ‘Significantly Sidelined’ In Jawan Over Deepika Padukone’s Role
South’s superstar actress Nayanthara left the critics and the audiences impressed with her portrayal of NSG officer, Narmada Rai. Having played the role of Shah Rukh Khan’s love interest in the movie, she left everyone spellbound with her effortlessly charming on-screen personality. Fans have been eagerly waiting for her to do more Bollywood projects. However, it seems like the actress is miffed with director Atlee for sidelining her character and cutting off her scenes to elevate Deepika Padukone’s role in the film.

According to a recent report by Hindustan Times, a source close to Nayanthara explained how she is very upset with the filmmaker for chopping off her role in the film. While Deepika was credited for her ‘special appearance’ in the film, many thought it was not just a cameo. HT source added, “Jawan was almost made to look like an SRK-Deepika film. Nayanthara is the leading actor down south, and hence, she was not happy with the treatment of Jawan.” ALSO READ: Nayanthara Hugs, Kisses Her Hubby Vignesh Shivan In Mushy, Loved-up Pics On His Birthday! The media publication further reports that this might be one of the reasons why Nayanthara might not do many Bollywood projects in the future. When questioned about if this was the reason why the Bigil actor never promoted the film or even attended the post-success meet with the cast, the source explained how she always refrains from promoting her projects because of the “bad experiences in the past when she was misquoted.” ALSO READ: Nayanthara REACTS As Paparazzi Say, 'Jawan Is Not A Movie But A Festival'- WATCH VIDEO

Speaking on the 38-year-old actress doing more projects in Bollywood, the source shared, “The reason is that she is almost 40 and has crossed the age bracket that Bollywood has created. So, here in Bollywood, she can play character roles that justifies her age. In Jawan, she worked well because she was cast opposite Shah Rukh, who is a good match for her.”

Talking about Jawan, the Atlee directorial has collected over ₹518 crore at the domestic box office ever since its release and is still running strong at the box-office. Apart from Shah Rukh and Deepika, the movie also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Ridhi Dogra, Aaliyah Qureshi, Lehar Khan, Priyamani and many others in pivotal roles.
