Irrfan Khan was one of the finest stars in the Hindi film industry. Not only in Bollywood, but he also carved a niche for himself in the West. The actor left behind several films for everyone to remember him as a brilliant actor. Apart from acting, Irrfan Khan was known for his skills behind the camera. Recently, remembering the late actor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui recalled the days when he directed him in 'Alvida' and said that he learned a lot from him during their interactions.
In an interview with ETimes, Nawazuddin Siddiqui said, "I had a good association with Irrfan Bhai. Apart from both of us attending the same institute, National School of Drama, he also directed me in 'Alvida' and I learnt a lot from him during our interactions."
Furthermore, sharing an anecdote from their shoot days, Nawazuddin revealed, "When he was directing me in 'Alvida' around 2003, he demonstrated a very nice aspect, about using fewer and crisper dialogues. In a scene where I was supposed to ask a girl to come over and sit on my bicycle, Irrfan Bhai told me that I can drop the word 'cycle' since movies are an audio-visual medium. He taught me 'less is more'. This is a theory that even I used to follow and his advice only cemented it."
Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Irrfan Khan shared screen space together in The Lunchbox and it did well. Talking more about the late actor, Nawazuddin said, "He was my senior by ten years! I admired his unique style of acting, it was very impressive. The natural ease and casualness in his performance were amazing."
